Congratulations to St. Leo’s College, Carlow on the Official Opening of their new extension.
'Solas' was officially opened by the Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn TD, on 29th January. The name ‘Solas’ (Irish for Light) reflects the light, space and spirit of the new building. Equally it reflects a new departure in the evolution of St Leo's College.
Thanks to a Prefab Replacement grant worth over €1 million, the new building will provide six new Classrooms, a Technology Room, Science Lab and a Library. In addition to the new building, some refurbishment to the original building was also undertaken in the existing Music Room and Physics lab as well as the development of a new Hair and Beauty Salon to offer Hair and Beauty to Leaving Certificate Applied class.
The building works were delivered 6 weeks ahead schedule just in time for the new school term last September.
